@slytherinspy1960 Well, I’m 99,9999999999% (I never say 100%) sure that it wasn’t intentional to name the show after a genocidal gang, and I know that Ana is Armenian (and in her own video – thetopvlog she actually says that when she was hired she was suspicious about the name of the show – “watch?v=Eo8NvJq6ik8″). So, now you can remember it. But I think that what is essential is the content of the show, not its name (though not the best one, in my opinion).

@nmgscp it started off simply as the young turk and of course it changed to the young turks as the show progressed. i don’t know whether it was intentional or not, all i have to say is that they aren’t going to change it now. maybe it should be addressed but honestly ana IS ARMENIAN so it is kind of ridiculous. in fact i vaguely remember them addressing this sometime before in one of their videos….i don’t really remember though.

@slytherinspy1960 I’m not american and I watch it, so I take the role of a non-american watching it. And I didn’t even say that the show was directed at Turks or Armenians. But, let’s say that there was a show directed to progressive americans called “Gestapo”… Well, I wouldn’t think that it would be a good idea. Obviously I’m exaggerating, since the term “young turks” defines a far larger concept than what the actual “Young Turks” were. There would be better names, though.

@slytherinspy1960 I KNOW that Cenk Uygur is not for any kind of genocide, but the name of the show is freaking for those who know what the Young Turks (opposed to the monarchy) did to Armenians, along with other Turks. Being for liberalization was not an excuse… The “conservative” (actually not so conservative in the 19th century) Sultans of the Ottoman Empire, before 1915 had never done anything similar to that. And, yes, I think Cenk should speak about that, at least once!

@snowboarder1019 I don’t watch TV news anymore but I read both internet sites and I prefer CTV’s. I get most of my news from internet sites and listening to CKNW in Vancouver. I do like CBC radio sometimes when they do the across Canada shows and I love Rick Mercer. Why do you ask?
